Our boats are custom made flat bottomed boats that are designed especially
for the water conditions encountered in the Chilkat River. This combined
with guides that have several life times of combined experience on this
river make our trips completely safe!
Moose are often the highlight of the tour. The Chilkat River Valley is prime habitat for these giants as well as Brown Bear, Black Bear, and lots of water foul, including the majestic Trumpeter Swan!

Your adventure will start by fully outfitting you with all of the essentials to keep you warm, dry and comfortable while on the river. This includes coats, gloves, blankets and optional life preservers. We say optional because the upper Chilkat River is the shallowest navigatable river in North America and in most places you can stand right up in the river!
The summer months is the only time that you can access this portion of the preserve with our boats. It is the prime nesting grounds within the preserve for the American Bald Eagle and you can watch them tending the nests and raising young in their natural habitat!
